'Show Dock' keyboard shortcut on a Mac bumps windows out of the way

I find this behavior strange. If you use the Mac keyboard shortcut to reveal a hidden dock (Cmd + Option + D), the appearance of the dock will 'push' any windows out of the way that are in the area where the dock appears.

Typing the keyboard shortcut again to hide the dock does not move the window back. This video hopefully demonstrates what I mean:

Entries from macosxhints.com are increasingly being used on Lifehacker.com

I've been avidly following macosxhints.com pretty much since the site started back in 2000 (I bought my first OS X Mac in 2001). For the last few years I've also started following a lot of stories on Lifehacker.com. Over the last few months I've been repeatedly experiencing a sense of déjà vu while reading Lifehacker articles. I keep on coming across stories that I had previously seen on macosxhints.com. E.g. today I saw this story which first appeared on macosxhints.com yesterday.  Of course Lifehacker isn't really doing anything different to what it has always done – it aggregates interesting and useful stories from around the web.

However, I was curious as to whether Lifehacker is dipping its toes into the waters of macosxhints.com more frequently than in the past. I searched Lifehacker for 'Mac OS X Hints' and found 55 entries. As it is only April, I converted the results into 'stories per month' for each year since 2005. As you can see, there is a notable increase this year where 14 macosxhints.com stories have already been recycled for use by Lifehacker.

Details of Mac OS X 10.9 have been leaked

How many more big cats are there which Apple can use for naming their future OS X releases? Well not that many. Lion is now the confirmed name for 10.7 but what could come next? I can now exclusively reveal that after 10.7 is released, Apple will make a smaller update release for 10.8 which will be called 'Mountain Lion'. This will be a minor release that mostly contains performance updates, and will mirror how the 10.5 release of Leopard was followed by 10.6 Snow Leopard. Hopefully, this 10.8 news quashes the rumors that Steve Jobs was favoring the name 'Ocelot'. And so, what can come after that? Does 10.8 mark the end of the line for Mac OS X? Well, I can also reveal that Apple will be sticking with the feline theme, but have made contingency plans for where to go when they run out of the big cat names. So here is an exclusive look at how Mac OS 10.9 will be named and marketed:
